Smart home platform

A modern smart home is no longer just a collection of connected devices. It is a living digital ecosystem where lighting, heating, sensors, appliances and security systems work together to create a safer, more comfortable and more efficient home.

RT-RK’s smart home platform provides an end-to-end software solution that brings this ecosystem together. It connects devices, users and services into a single, cohesive environment that is easy to deploy, manage and expand over time.

At the heart of the platform is the smart home hub, which connects devices inside the home and coordinates their behavior. The hub communicates with a scalable cloud service that enables remote management, service orchestration and system monitoring. On top of this foundation, mobile clients and developer SDKs provide the interface through which users interact with their home and service providers build new experiences.

The platform can run on third-party hardware such as existing routers, set-top boxes or other smart home hosts. This flexibility allows operators and partners to integrate smart home capabilities into their existing infrastructure and product ecosystems.

3rd party smart home host

Our smart home hub software is operating system agnostic which means that you can use your existing CPE device like STB or broadband router for running smart home service.

For the end user, the experience comes to life through intuitive Android and iOS mobile applications. These apps provide full visibility and control over the entire home environment. Devices can be easily monitored and controlled based on their location, such as the living room or kitchen, or by their type, such as lights, sensors or thermostats. Automation becomes simple and accessible through Rules, where users can define actions that respond to specific events - for example turning on lights when someone enters a room.

To simplify everyday use, the platform also introduces Smarts, ready-to-use logic tailored to common scenarios such as lighting, heating or security monitoring. A customizable Dashboard provides quick access to frequently used devices, rules and automation scenarios, while the Home Setup tools make it easy to configure the entire environment - adding devices, organizing rooms and floors, or adapting the system as the home evolves.

Beyond device connectivity, the platform opens the door to a new generation of value-added services. Energy management services can help households optimize electricity consumption and reduce costs. Smart insurance services can leverage home data to create personalized and usage-based policies. Home care services can support remote monitoring of elderly or vulnerable residents, while smart repair and maintenance services can detect problems early and trigger proactive support.

Abstracts devices in uniform way

As of today, there is no standardized, simple enough semantic protocol for IP-based devices. As a result, the integration of the device into IoT system requires significant effort.

With that in mind, we developed a service-model based semantic protocol that solves the IoT problems of: Interoperability, Security, Discovery, Commissioning/inclusion/exclusion, Firmware upgrade, and Building up a generic IoT solution of various topologies.

SW-technologies

OM (OBLO Manager) handles the IoT application business logic. It manages communication through various protocols such as ZigBee, Z-Wave, Bluetooth, ONVIF, and others. It also includes rules logic, smart behaviors, and layout management.

OSM (OBLO System Manager) is responsible for the platform port layer, as well as system-level functions such as the watchdog, network handling, input/output handling, and firmware upgrades.

OMB (OBLO Message Broker) manages system connectivity through MQTT. It handles cloud connections, gateway inter-process communication, and communication with external client applications, including mobile clients.

SW-technologies

Core Services

Cloud Core contains mandatory services of IoT system. Based on microservice architecture and can operate on its own, without external dependencies. All services are internally clustered to ensure scalability and high availability.

Integrations

IoT service operation requires integrations with Customer’s existing IT services like CRM, OSS/BSS, alarms, monitoring, data services, etc. In addition, OBLO cloud service provides mechanisms for easy integrations with 3rd party cloud services like online weather, Google Assistant, alarm service, etc.

Administration portal

BackOffice portal allows administration of all IoT systems in the field.
